dh and I are always looking for good, interesting documentaries to watch. we like documentaries about people, social experiments, people growing up in the jungle, etc. (NOT boring ones about history or war)

here are some we like:
1. Grizzly man
2. Scared straight
3. Born a boy, brought up a girl
4. Paper clips (didn't watch it yet but looks interesting)
5. Supersize me
6. Unknown White Male

do you have any other ones to add to the list? We are trying to find sme more interesting ones like these. Thanks!

Does it have to be people in a jungle? How about all those National Geographic documentaries on animals. Lions, bears, tigers and all that stuff.

Any Michael Moore documentaries would be interesting and controversial, like Fahrenheit 9/11(about 9/11 of course) , Sicko (dealing with the US healthcare system) Bowling for Columbine (about the high school massacre). I haven't actually seen any of these, but only because I haven't had the chance. I'd love to see them one day.

Here are some that I really like. WARNING: The films on the list may include content that you might find objectionable. Also, some were made a long time ago:

Capturing the Friedmans by Andrew Jarecki
Salesman by the Maysles Brothers
Grey Gardens by the Maysles Brothers
A Century of Living (HBO)
Paragraph 175 (HBO)
Don't Look Back by DA Pennebaker
The Civil War by Ken Burns
The Donner Party by Ric Burns
Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock
Streetwise by Martin Bell
The Last Waltz by Martin Scorsese
Farenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore
Roger and Me by Michael Moore
Brother's Keeper by Bruce Sinofsky and Joe Berlinger

I could go on...

Spellbound (2002)- Every spring since 1925, Scripps Howard newspapers sponsor spelling bees at grade schools across the U.S. Ten million kids competed in 1999. This documentary follows eight of them as they win regional bees and prepare for the national contest in D.C. They're from big cities, suburbs, and small towns. We watch them practice, we hear their views on study, competition, victory and defeat. We meet their families: two have single parents, three are children of immigrants. Once in D.C., we watch them compete and listen to their parents between rounds. Each is engaging, all are talented, and one might win it all. In America, says one immigrant dad, hard work brings success.

try TLC (the learning channel) - they have lots of episodes about big families - John and Kate plus 8 - is about a family that has twins, and then sextuplet. Last week I was watching shows about families with 12+ kids.

check out TLC's website, maybe you can watch some shows on-line
