All these areas you are mentioning, most people had it already or were exposed already, so even if they are in Florida, they are not getting it. They might not mingle with the regular older Florida residents there, but keep to one area.

Florida is NOT fully open. They are in phase 1/2 where they are PARTIALLY open. PARTIALLY being the huge word in the sentence. People are still recommended to stay 6 ft away from others, no huge gatherings etc etc and their rate is not declining daily it’s holding steady and for a few days last week it actually went UP.
That aside, the reason people test for antibodies is to help with the research. To help the # because if you have high antibodies you were exposed to enough of the viral load for your body to fight it off.
It also helps for your curiosity to know if u were exposed to it or not.
As for immunity - it means that right now at the moment of the test u do have immunity. They don’t know how long it wil last.
Having the antibody immunity does not mean you won’t get it again (maybe less severe than last time) and it definitely does not mean you can’t carry it to others - you can. So whether you hve the antibodies or not, don’t mingle until they say it’s ok.

You know that corona can spread without symptoms, and that this is the most dangerous phase? when you think everything is OK, but the virus is quietly spreading, no-one is testing, and then suddenly an outbreak is revealed because someone became very ill? but then it is really too late to avoid massive spread? That's exactly what happened in New York... |
Agree. the whole concept of patient zero doesn't really make much sense with this virus.
When media were referring to the "first" case in Westchester, it was a fallacy. It was just the first case to be bad enough to get hospitalized and tested.

Not sure this answers the OP, but it seems that, as of yesterday, they're leaning toward saying that you cannot be infectious after recovering:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news.....tious
"The so-called re-positive patients weren’t found to have spread any lingering infection, and virus samples collected from them couldn’t be grown in culture, indicating the patients were shedding non-infectious or dead virus particles.

Isn't it interesting that for a period of time there were hundreds of symptomatic cases (alongside many more asymptomatic ones), and now all of a sudden we have weeks of asymptomatic cases only? At some point we'll have to assume that lack of new cases is, just that, a lack of new cases.
I'm not saying we're at that point now. Although I do believe that in the frum community in Brooklyn we have very likely reached that point.

So how do they explain the reinfection of the soldiers in Guam? There, the soldiers tested positive for coronavirus weeks ago, then recovered and had two negative tests 48 hours apart. Now, weeks after recovery, they developed flu-like symptoms and tested positive. If the test is just picking up dead virus particles, what's up with the flu-like symptoms? Is it only a coincidence? Scientists still need to research this.
Because this virus is so new, no one will know if reinfection is possible till they've studied it for a while.

There's also the thought that the virus itself might go through a cycle of waxing and waning, so had felt better but not actually recovered. The explanation for the negative nasal swabs would be false negatives, which can happen if the swab didn't go far enough up the nose.

One doctor hypothesized that the virus could eventually burn itself out and that plagues have done that throughout history. It seems to me that strengthening the immunity of the hosts (us) is one way to win against the germs.

That's definitely a possibility. Though if there were 5 soldiers who all recovered and had two negative tests 48 hours apart, then felt fine for weeks, then fell ill again and tested positive - don't you think it's reasonable to suspect that it was a new infection? It may be a rare phenomenon, but it's probably worth looking into. As time passes, scientists are learning more facts about this virus and we'll all have a clearer picture of how it goes.
