My son had a maniac experience on lexapro, therefore ssri's are out. We're thinking that maybe he needs to be on a mood stabilizer. Some mentioned Lamictal. I'm wondering how kids do on it?

my teen daughter is doing very well on lamictal. She was very weepy/depressed before and her mood has greatly improved.

Is she taking just the lamictal, or is she taking it in addition to another medication?
Also, has she tried an ssri before?

no SSRI because of a family history.

She takes it together with Lithium (but I would like to get her off of the lithium.)

(she started off on the lithium, and dr added the lamictal because her moods were very down. she has bipolar II disorder diagnosis. I think the lithium makes her tired and hard to concentrate.)
