Anyone who had to put an infant on Elecare- were you able to have it covered through insurance? If yes, how?
Thanks!

Yes. If you are in Brooklyn, try Elm pharmacy. Super convenient and they deliver every month.

You have to make sure your insurance will cover it. With my first. they did. I got a prescription from my doctor and brought it into the pharmacy.

With my next, I had different insurance and they wouldn't cover it. I was not working because I was out on maternity leave, so I managed to get on WIC, which covered it with a doctor's request.

if insurance doesn't cover have your doctor submit a "letter of necessity" this can be done for many things that insurance might not cover. Sometimes that works you might have to call a few times or get what's called an insurance advocate directly from the insurance company basically you ask the insurance customer service dept. to get you an advocate. Once you do both things, you have to keep following up until it's approved. Hatzlochah.

We don't have Medicaid so our insurance only covered 4 months worth, even with notes from the Pediatrician. Now we qualify for WIC bh so they cover most of the formula each month.
