In the past couple months I saw a recipe, I think it was in one of the heimish magazines, for an alternative to short ribs, using kolichl cut into short rib sized pieces. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? This would be super helpful!
Thanks

Bump.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? Or have a good recipe for something similar to spare ribs? Maybe still want to make it before yom tov

BBQ Rub (will have extra, store for next time)
1/2 cup each brown sugar, white sugar and smoked paprika, 1/4 cup garlic powder, 2 Tbsp onion powder, 2 Tbsp ground ginger, 2 Tbsp black pepper, 2 tsp ground rosemary powder
Mock Short Ribs Kolichel
4-5 pounds kolichel, cut into 1" x 2" strips
olive oil
salt & pepper
2-3 Tbsp liquid smoke
Place all in Ziploc. Sous vide for 48 hours at 170 degrees.
Place cooked ribs on a cookie sheet and coat both sides in rub. Broil 4-10 minutes per side, until caramelized. Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving.
It mentioned something about rewarming in the oven on YT for 1 hour.

Wow! I knew I could count on you all to come thru for me! I guess this isn't an option for yom tov anymore, needs 48 hours sous vide. But it sounds very good, I'm going to have to try it another time.
For now in just going to bake low and slow in the oven till tonight with a sauce of some sort

Why not bake with some liquid low and slow instead of sous vide, and then caramelize as directed?
