They keep on scratching against the walls, I can’t sleep.
It’s only getting louder and more intense.
Anyone have any ideas?

It may be squirrels. Do you have an attic? You can try to set up traps with peanut butter in it. Or you can call an exterminator.

If you are in a rental, call the landlord.

If you own the place, call an exterminator.

Depending on what part of the world you are in it could be something harmful or relatively harmless.

I once saw one of those home renovation shows once where they actually found some kittens living in the walls of a house - kittens were fine, but boy, were the workers surprised!

Good luck - hope you get this dealt with soon :-(

We had last year something scratching, making little shrill noises and moving inside the outside wall of the children's room. Both at day and at night. It went on for 2-3 weeks. I was sure that it was rats (I'm a pessimist). As I finally had made up my mind to call an exterminator, I was by chance in the garden and noticed a bird flying out of a small hole on the outside of that wall. Turned out that it was birds nesting in a tunnel-like cavity behind the hole in the wall. I waited a few more days until I was sure that all the young ones had left the nest for good and then stuffed up the hole with polyurethane foam. All silent ever since.
But if you can't identify what's making the noise, yeah, better to have it checked by a professional.

We had birds living in our bathroom vent but it sounded like they had taken over the house.
Pretty simple to remove but do it soon because as the weather warms up they can bring mites (which won't be fun for you - apparently quite itchy).

Just call the exterminator, I'm sure they'll figure it out pretty quickly.
