Lubavitch always makes a gematria of the year, like תשנ"ה beingTehiyeh Shnas niflaaos.
Just joking, but so far this year, it's been shnas pandemics and shnas protests. What's next?

Nice!
But just imagine if someone had said te'hei shnat pandemic... They'd be the latest community sensation on the cover of all our publications. Too bad. There's always next year. Start thinking imas!

Interesting article. Thank you imasoftov! The year is almost over and I've been doing it wrong all along. You'll have to remind us in 9 years.

So interesting.

I don't remember doing that for taf shin mem and nun. Was that the accepted way of doing it in Israel back then? Are my Israeli friends and family snickering when they see my letters with dated with the regular פ?

Tehei shnas Plotz...

Plotz out your minds from boredom, exhaustion, craziness etc....

But most importantly, Plotz out of your clothes! Cool

The article says that the same question was asked and the same answer given about תש"ם. Ten years later, no one asked them, but people wrote תש"ן

Not at all. That's how I spell it. I'd say that I see it spelled that way about 50% of the time, notwithstanding the Academy's recommendation to spell it the other way.
תש"ף just seems wrong to my eyes. It also kind of reminds me of אש"ף (the PLO).

Thanks for the reassurance. I didn't mean to imply they'd be nasty about it but it's nice to know I'm not alone.

Interesting to connect it to the acronym for the PLO. Why is it that one has the ף? Is that really the standard that somehow didn't stick for the years?

(Maybe it's because תש"פ is representative of a number rather than a true acronym? How would you write that you gave 180 ₪ to tzedakah?)
