My first son's bar mitzva is a few weeks away iyH. I want to make this special and meaningful and not just let it pass with just a party and kiddush.
Please post any ideas you have done or know of, thank you!

I have a personlized Bar Mitzvah video I make for those bar mitzvah boys saying the Chabad Bar Mitzvah maamer. People show it at the party or on zoom during the lockdown. It explains the Maamer . If you are not chabad you may be able to make a video on another Bar Mitzvah topic with images of your son.

Yes. Have him pick a mitzvah that he has an affinity with and is special for him. My son volunteers at friendship circle. Maybe he can volunteer at a local Tomchei shabbos or a Bikur Cholim? Maybe he had raise money for a cause or donate money to an event? Maybe he can donate to a child in Israel to also have a pair of tefillin.
I’m not a fan of material gifts or parties.
