Hi peeps!
So we're staying in the city like every year. I'm thrilled about having daycamp for my littles but I am worried about all the downtime. There is a LOT of extra time after daycamp and on weekends and we have a tiny apartment with zero outdoor space to make a pool etc. There isn't any space on my block for riding bikes either and besides, it is HOT.
Normally every summer we do loads of trips. Local parks, playgrounds, splash pad, sprinklers, library, pizza shop, ice cream store museums, grandparents upstate, the beach etc etc.
With none of these being an option, how are you planning on surviving this summer?
All tips and ideas welcome!

Anyway to visit grandparents? Covid Testing is becoming more widely available. Perhaps you can get you and your family tested , if all negative, then you can visit grandparents?

For various reasons that is not an option

Oh boy, I feel ya
It's going to be a summer to remember. I'm not sure we'll survive it.
So far, we plan to do long bubble bathes every evening with a lot of bath toys (a rotation to keep things exciting), Prospect Park for scooters and bubbles, some baking and a lot of prayers.

I was in your situation a few years ago.
I doubt things will be so restrictive in another month from now. Even if they will be, parks are open.
You can go to places like Prospect Park and The Salt Marsh (if you are in Brooklyn)
If you can't take your children to their grandparents just take them for a picnic upstate
Can they ride their bikes on another block?
etc.

Same here! Not thinking yet about how we’ll survive....We should at least do a meet-up so our kids will have company and a change of scenery!

Neither me nor my husband drive, so I can't "just take them" anywhere.

Give them washable paint and paper, undress them, put them into the bathtub and let them paint away! When they are done simply turn on the bath.

Don't know if you're in the mood of a longer trip but maybe come down to Jersey for open hiking parks and less populated beaches? Veg picking too
look for national parks or state parks online
the ferry is a good trip (Ellis Island, weehawkin etc)
again that's traveling don't know if that works for you

I was literally just thinking about this while going somewhat insane today. We're usually at the beach every Sunday and I don't want to take my daughter if there's no lifeguards.
If you think of something and would like to do it together, hmu
