Coronavirus is VERY low risk for kids.

Do you let your kids ride in a car? 40,000 killed per year, many more injured.

You let your kids ride a bike? Go swimming?

If yes to the above, then you can let your kids go to camp!

I just want to respond to this. I'm sending my kids to camp. Gotta go back to work, have no choice.
But my kids riding bikes, going swimming, etc while coming with a risk, it's a calculatable risk that only affects my own child's health and safety and doesn't create a ripple affect.
Whereas sending to camp can bring the germs home, affect me, spread to my husband's co-worker, who brings it home to his elderly parents who lives with him.

It's disingenuous to compare the risk of swimming and the risk of Coronavirus.

However at this point, I think parents need to weigh all the risks.
I'm sending to camps, but then we won't do indoor visits with my parents/in-laws.
A balance that I needed to decide.

But I shouldn't just say, nah Corona isn't risky to kids, they can do whatever they want. That's wrong.

Of course, children who play with others - whether in camp or not - cannot have close contact with grandparents.

And if parents are older or sick, then their kids cannot go to camp or play with others.

While we have to allow kids to have as normal of a life as possible, I have read some rather pessimistic scientific opinions as to how well vaccines will control the virus and older people might be still vulnerable because the shots won't work for them.
It's tragic and everyone will have to be vigilant because New Zealand and Beijing thought that it was gone and it's back.
These camps, schools, shuls and communities should not consider this pandemic to be gone.
