Doing this for a friend: she is a preschool teacher for 10 years and is looking to leave. She loves working with kids. What other job or course can she take that will make her be able to continue working with kids?

This is just some random ideas: Nanny, substitute teacher, babysitter, tutoring (including tutoring foreign students in English), sports coach, camp director, preschool director, working for a nonprofit or charity that supports kids, teacher of art/music/baking... etc classes. Work in school administration. Librarian. Therapist or social worker. Have own home daycare. Work at an educational institution like a zoo or museum that has programs for kids. A job at a university or college (opportunity to work with older students). School bus driver. Teacher Aide. Teach college classes about childcare & kids. Some of these career options would obviously require additional classes or advanced degrees.

And additionally with the current pandemic many of these jobs are currently impacted. She might have luck doing online camp, classes, tutoring for kids right now.

Another idea, if she has a strong Judaic/Hebrew background, private bat/bar mitzvah classes (there is a market for this for non-frum families too). My son will be a Bar Mitzvah next year and I’m hiring a private tutor to study with him starting this summer (in our case I’m hiring a close relative. But it can be good supplemental income. I’m paying $40 per 45 min session).

Thanks for your ideas! Keep ‘me coming! I should be more specific: she’s having her 4th child after the summer iy”h, so she needs something more part-time. She’s looking to take some courses to deal with specific issues applicable to children. She wants to have a “specialty” on her hands, something that will bring people to benefit from her “expertise”. Not sure if I’m sounding clear enough.....

Would anybody know of courses that teach you how to deal with behaviorally challenged kids or something like that?

If she’s looking for courses to take, check out your local community college. They may have classes related to child development.

Another idea, a post partum doula. Families need help when they have a newborn. A post partum doula might help with teaching a new mom, help the new mom with nursing, help watch other kids, light household chores, teach a new mom how to wear a baby with a baby wrap... etc. there are classes and certifications for this. Plus, since she’s has several kids, she can definitely relate to the needs of a new mom.

Didn't know there was such a thing, would love to do that!
Is that common in frum communities? I would think that some ppl hire a baby nurse to take night shift and most ppl have relatives that can help...

I don’t have any experience with this but I know that the life and family coach on Instagram, Alayabcoaching, is trained in this program:

https://consciousdiscipline.com/

Maybe your friend could do coaching for kids using this certification?

Sounds so interesting. What can she do with this after she’s done?

She could start a coaching business and coach kids/families individually like what Alayabcoaching does, or, from what I read on the website, she could become a consultant for teachers/administrators in schools.
