He's not stopping the fireworks. He said police can only deal with safety issues (violent crime). They will not deal with fireworks.

All he did was create a taskforce compromised of a mix of police, fire and sherrif to track the suppliers for the fireworks and to go after them. He is not going after the teens and young men actually doing the fireworks.

So nothing is actually going to change.
