When she woke me up early one morning and told me she started, I gave her a hug and said "Mazel tov, this means your body is healthy and working right!" |
I like this so much better than "you're a woman now."

Well you’re already doing it right.
My mother didn't prepare me at all.
One day I was cramping and bleeding and I thought I was dying.
I was mortified to tell my mother, but I was too afraid not to.
Thanks for everyone’s tips, because I definitely want to do it right with my daughters.

My mother told me Mazel Tov! BH your body is working properly and this means you can have children it's such a bracha and a real celebration, she explained to me it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. It's a part of chavas curse but it's a real bracha and shes so happy for me. She asked if she can make me a party which I turned down and she asked if she can tell my father and grandma. She was so happy and than she bought me a jewish book to explain the hashkafa of a womans body.
