We opted for YouTube so that my son could feel like he was giving a “performance“ as he would in Shul. I think most people prefer Zoom but we felt Zoom is often distracting, with people scrolling through and chatting with friends and family.

No, and I wouldn't. I'm due in November, and I'm not going to have a zoom Brit. If no one except the mohel and the parents is allowed, then so be it, if we can have 10 guests we will have 10 guests, if we can have 100 guests I doubt we will even have 100 people we could invite, lol.
We live in Israel and most of our family is in the US. My first son's Brit was way before Corona, and we didn't even think of zooming it or anything for the family in the US. Whoever couldn't make it just couldn't make it, and they got a picture and told the name afterward.

My son has a zoom bar mitzvah. It was...interesting, to say the least. He said he didn’t mind it so much because it wasn’t as high-pressure. He doesn’t like attention and the few attendees were very close family and friends who made it enjoyable. He is my only son and I do feel like he was robbed of the typical bar mitzvah experience, but had a good time, so I’m happy.

My siblings have made a zoom bris and a zoom wedding during corona.
Just have someone in charge of the phone that's doing the zoom and try to make sure they don't walk out of internet range or it'll freeze. The people on the zoom entertain themselves by talking to each other and chatting. When they get bored they walk away or leave.
The people making the Simcha said hi to the camera for a minute but otherwise they carried on as usual and the camera just observed.
