Any way yo make ‘putting baby to sleep on tummy’ safer? That’s the only way he sleeps!

How old is baby? If he’s rolling there himself it’s totally safe.

It senses the baby's movement. It is a device with a large flat mat attached to it by a cable. You put the large mat under the baby's mattress, and attach the device to the side of the crib.

When you put the baby down to sleep, you switch it on. If the mat senses movement (ie. breathing), it remains silent. If it detects that there is no movement, it beeps loudly.

Only problem is sometimes (but rarely) if the baby is sleeping very close to the edge of the crib, the mat does not sense the baby, and it beeps falsely.

And remember to switch it off after you take the baby out, otherwise it will beep after a few seconds.

Have you discussed this with your pediatrician?

Monitors like the one above are not reliable and give a false sense of security. The only way to have a safe tummy sleeper is if you put them on their back and they flip. People obviously do other things but they are not considered to be safe sleep. How old is your baby?

When my newborn was screaming nonstop and only slept on his stomach two pediatricians in my practice told me that it's totally fine.

Have you heard of cases of a baby dying of cot-death with a monitor because the monitor didn't ring?
Where can I read about it?
