I make shabbos for couples who have a baby often and this is what I send:

2 challos and a few rolls.
1 roll gefilte fish
3 dips
fresh salad x2 (for day meal)
1 pasta salad
quart chicken soup
1 chicken cut in 8ths
1 kugel
Rice or farfel
garlic green beans
6 peices of shnitzel (diff size peices)
cake or pie
cookies

Yummy meal! And bal batish! Way to go! Food is never too much. If you don't eat all, you put away for another time.
