Whats a relatively safe area to get away to, for a few days 2-3 hrs drivng from NYC, for adults?
Is it true that those who dont have their own summer homes, are just staying at home?

Everywhere is safe. If you don't feel safe, where a mask at all times and be strict with SD.

Masks don’t protect you from corona. They protect others from YOUR germs.
Some places are going strong with covid19 now while other places seem to be over it. Not every place is as safe.

Rent out a house on AirBnb with amenities your family would enjoy (lake, beach, pool) and bring along your own food. No need to go anywhere.
