He’s been looking for over a year. We have a business which he runs the financial part of but he really needs something during the day.
He’s really good at numbers knows quickbooks and excel very well. He’s make a great bookkeeper but all these jobs in Lakewood are “female only”.
Any advice?

Thanks for the suggestions. Mashgiach is not for him, an accountant is a possibility but apparently jobs aren’t easy to find.

Does he have a bachelor's degree of any kind? Can he look for work outside the frum community? If he has a degree of any sort, he can get his foot in the door at a lot of places in some other kind of role and then work to acquire some financial/accounting work experience that he can leverage for a true finance/accounting position.

The bold is key. Jobs in the frum community can somehow get away with breaking discrimination laws. The non heimish world also needs bookkeepers, etc. and will hire a qualified candidate regardless of gender.

Bumping this up.
I can’t watch him anymore. Got another rejection today because of his gender he’s given up.

Just hope you know, if you’re referring to the job opportunity I suggested, it was not gender related. It was lack of experience and skills needed for the position.
Wishing you both lots of luck in his search!

Has he tried employment agencies? Like PCS. And there are other private ones.
If he needs to brush up on skills, Chesed of Lakewood offers some free courses.

Does he have professional qualifications of any kind? Perhaps this would be a good time to take an online bookkeeping course. Try your local community college, vo-tech or adult high school for very low-cost reputable training. This, plus his own business experience, might make him a better candidate.
And yes, he should look outside the “frum world.” Bookkeeping is not a gendered profession. Also, aim low. Encourage him to apply for entry-level positions. He can work his way up once he has his foot in the door.
Do you think he has difficulty interviewing? Would he practice mock interviews with you? Is he well-groomed and reasonably articulate? Can he describe his bookkeeping skills and clearly state how he has generated positive outcomes for the family business?
