As a mother of young kids I don't fast because its more important that I be a calm relaxed mother,
Than fasting and being a nervous wreck, screaming at my kids or being too weak to care for them.
Of course Yom Kippur and Tisha Buv do fast.

From where did you get that psak?

I’m fasting. Luckily for me, I don’t have any young children so I get to stay in bed all day.

She clearly stated, "To clarify, I'm talking about healthy women who are not pregnant or nursing."

That would include women who are menstruating or postpartum and not nursing.

A woman who's just had a baby, whether or not she's nursing, is still in the he category of a cholah. A woman who's menstruating is not.

To the poster who asked why we fast -
On the 17th of Tammuz, according the the gemara in תענית - in different years:
1.Moshe Rabbenu smashed the first set of luchos
2. The Jews stopped bringing the korban tamid ( because the city was under siege and they ran out of sheep) (Bayis Rishon)
3. An idol was placed in the Azara
4. A Sefer Torah was burned by a Roman general, (before the Bar Kochba revolt) and
5. The walls of Yerushalayim were breached, setting off three weeks of hand to hand combat with the Romans, until the mikdash was destroyed on Tisha bAv. (Bayis Sheni)

No I know what happened in history.
Don't get why we fast because of it.

Because we're sad about the destruction of Yerushalayim and the loss of the mikdash. Or should be.
