In the past I’ve enjoyed
Mrs. Maisels
Call the midwives
Outlander
Poldark

I love history and magic anything out of ordinary. I hated the handmaiden. I really don’t like dirty shows. However, most of the shows I start watching turn ugly real quick but I’m stuck watching them. Can you recommend good clean historical fiction?

Amazon prime or Netflix.

Thank you!

Also Anzac Girls (a show on Amazon) is amazing, loved it. Crimson Field is a similar idea show which was also amazing but not available for free on either site right now.

Also why are all good historical fiction shows English?

Wake up America! Enough with the Hollywood cr@p.

I’ve also loved Jamestown for those history nerds out there.

How about Dr Quinn Medicine Woman ? I think it's available through Amazon Prime. Great series, was considered a family friendly one so nothing too non-tznius (not promising there's nothing at all, depends how you hold, but overall it's clean).

It's set in the post Civil War west, and it's centered on a wealthy woman from Boston who moves to a small town to be a doctor there. Women doctors were unusual enough back then, so you have that piece of it ,plus historical things like the army vs the native Americans and the way they treated medical issues back then. Also a lot of stuff about family and friendship.

Line of Duty (Netflix) is a magnificent piece of British filmmaking but it's not what I would call 'light' viewing - it's about a police anti-corruption unit. And its dialogue-heavy, which you may or may not prefer.
I also loved Marcella, House of Cards, Black Mirror (if you like Sci-Fi) and Sherlock.
