Wow, sorry OP for piggybacking, but all this is enlightening.
But no maps showing precisely where's Charish relative to Haifa etc.
What would a one-bedroom apt. cost there?
Would I fit into Charish? ...or ostracized?
Pardes? Ashkelon? Rehovot? KiryatShmuel? Other?
Description:
Middle-aged, on my own, zero support, weird.
And money very tight. Like, any one-br for 250k?
(that's if they don't bring down the economy & banks)
I'm chronically unwell.
No health systems ever helped, conventional or alternate.
(Though the dead sea mudpool =on-site-only= was helpful.)
I speak a smattering of Hebrew (B.Y. style)
But barely understand modern Hebrew, and didn't learn to type it.
Seeking a SIMPLE Baltimore-type crowd, like my nice deceased aunts were.
Also English-language Judaica library.
Not comfy with Non-tzniut, but not ultra halachic either.
I.E. I say brochot in morning. Using H' vs. Adoshem.
...By then, my brain blows a fuse.
I eat cholov stam, but want Meats+Maasrot by reliable hechsher.
Barely went to bungalows/touring/hotels/etc. (due to low money).
Slow study (never kept up with quick classmates). Painful past era.
Actually, some of the styles here remind me of my past classmates.
I.e. helpful and carefree and assuming so many others can be that way too.
...................................................................(rather than helpless & careworn)
Hey, I might even fit in among simple mid-aged sefardim, were it not for the culture barrier, such as library etc.
As mentioned elsewhere, I've been going in circles the last few months getting nowhere, mostly dead ends. Even israeli consulate trying to renew israeli passport - their phone just rang & rang. Not knowing how to get money transferred with the least money loss possible. Received no help with so many Qs, that R'Kessin was absolutely correct in his recent 21st century shiur about the red tape being ENORMOUS. Constant obstacles! It's hopeless! I'd be what's called "toshav chozer" and only the Bayit Yisraeli's are permitted to help toshav chozer's but their responses are in Hebrew. Even in the 1990s I barely got entitlements, but I won't go into that as it's too an uncomfortable topic.
