I am looking to purchase a fitbit to track my sleep patterns and figure out how much I am sleeping every night. I probably will not use it during the day to measure my step count and other stuff. Can anyone recommend one that is not too expensive?

Yes. I like it and it pairs nicely with my smart phone
And if it gets disconnected it's really easy to reconnect
