Does anyone know how to clean it from bugs/insects?

There are so many people who don't eat fresh corn on the cob but I want to try to clean it cause I just love fresh corn!

Also are there maybe ones from greenhouses that are better to buy (fresh). And where to buy them?

Please anyone help me out here.
Thank you

The chof-k: CORN ON THE COB – FRESH
Generally not infested. Nevertheless, one
should rinse under strong running water,
after removing the
husk.

I remove the peels, most of the strings, and run under the sink for a minute. Then I boil it in a pot with water, or rub spice on it and grill it.
I love corn on the cob Smile

I was told you need to cut it off the cob and check it for insects on a plate. There are many insects in between kernels and next to the cob.

I also heard from Rav Veye, that it needs to be cut off the cob, and then inspected really good to see thats its totaly clean

I have done both methods. I have never found a single bug between the kernels, even when cut off and inspected closely.

The only thing I have ever found is the occasional earwig that likes to hide in the husks. Earwigs are BIG, about 3/4 of an inch long, and you don't eat the husk anyway, so I wouldn't consider that "infested."

Recipe:

Cut the corn off the cob, and stir fry in lots of butter, with a dash of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Don't overcook, you still want it to taste slightly raw. Some people like it with fresh lime or cilantro on top.

There are tiny worms in between the corn pieces embedded in the cob. The worms are the same color as the cob.
Unfortunately I discovered this after we went corn picking at a farm.

If you look carefully you will see tiny worms on the cob.

As above. Star K says no cleaning other than washing well is needed so we follow that. I only eat corn from
This particular farmer in upstate NY (taste preference) and haven’t seen worms in 10 years

Only if they're there... some corn doesn't have worms.

I used to get from a farm when traveling upstate NY but the last couple of years I have found bugs in their corn. Back to the supermarket for me.

I find it interesting and disconcerting that there is such a lack of consensus over corn - I googled several kashrus agencies. One said corn is fine. One said visually inspect. One gave a washing procedure plus screen the water you boil it in. One said don't eat them at all. All from the US. The ou guide doesn't list corn at all which I guess means they're in the no worries camp?

You’ll see it in the water it’s cooked in
