I’m pretty pain-tolerant and it literally felt like she stuck the swab into my brain. I had a localized headache for the next hour.

I was nervous about testing for this reason, but Bh my doctor was very gentle and it didn’t hurt at all.
So sorry for you all!

I did it twice in same place. Obviously depends on who does it. First time nurse wasn't concentrating and my nose felt numb for at least an hour. Second time the nurse counted as she swirled the swab and was totally painless. I probably will have to do it again as I switch clients often, so will ask nurse to be gentle.

I also felt like they put it straight up my brain was totally traumatized. I promised I wouldn't test my kids for the flu again. The next time 2 times I went was totally fine. I think it depends how gentle the nurse is.

Is it worse than a flu swab? That wasn’t pleasant, but I survived without being permanently scarred.

Not sure cos I never had the flu swab. But because it's both in the nose I felt so bad for every time my kids had to go through that.

Dh and I had to do 2 covid swabs each before fertility treatment in Israel. I thought it was mildly unpleasant, felt a bit scratchy in my nose for about an hour afterwards each time but that was it. Not terrible. But dh said each time it was very painful and hurt him the whole day. Guess it depends on the person, the nose and the nurse... What

Bedikas shouldn’t hurt at all. Why are they hurting you?

It's far less uncomfortable than having a breathing tube stuck down your windpipe into your lungs if you leave it undiagnosed until you are symptomatic with complications! Crying

Don't they also do a throat culture for Covid? That scares me, I have never been able to take one of those. I'd rather have a shot.

It doesn’t really work that way. It’s a virus so no treatment to make it go away that will affect intubation.
The flu test goes inside nostril a bit.
The covid test goes through your nose to the back of your throat. It’s much more uncomfortable

I agree with her! Bedikas kill me, and they make me bleed. So I only do the bare bare bare minimum.

For my Covid test, I went to a cvs drivethru and got to swab myself.
