Potatoes usually absorb too much salt or heat

I know that when the food is too salted you can put a potato to cook inside and it absorbs the salt a little maybe it works for spicy too?

add more beans, barley (boiled and cooled first) , another onion, potatoe

u may have gained another midweek dinner too as a side benefit!

Barley only needs a short time to cook, it can be added as long as there's still around 45 minutes to shabbos. I'd also add potatoes and water.
