A lot of the books I have about getting ready for yomim noraim are meant for people who are not currently raising children and have time to focus on themselves and bettering themselves. I've heard from my spiritual guides that the "Days of parenting young children are the most spiritual" but it also means that we are home with the kids and not in shul davening--this year more than ever. Are there any titles for those of us "in the trenches" who don't have "an hour to focus on davening" or "did I make a bracha? Did I still have in mind that I'm still eating?". "I raised my voice--was I angry or was I teaching?" To help us get through the upcoming days feeling like we're doing SOMETHING spiritual?

My main suggestion is that you post this in the Rosh HaShana forum, or at least edit the title to make it clear that you are looking for books about the Yamim Nora'im. I thought you were asking for parenting books, and only clicked on it by mistake, since I don't normally read parenting books much.
Having said that, I may have an idea, but not until I get home this evening and can check the details.

Just read anything meaningful. A good biography is productive, if that's what you have the headspace for.
There's a great book called Why We Tremble with essays for each day from RC Elul through Simchas Torah. They're not time sensitive, like this must apply to 12 Elul, etc., just generally Elul and each yom tov.

I remind myself it is the holiest task, but yes, it's very hard with little kids
