Hi all. I would like to start taking anxiety meds because my anxiety has gotten so far out of control.
Has anyone used a local brooklyn dr to treat anxiety? And if so who can you recommend?

Where is he located? Did u personally use him? Is he experienced with anxiety meds? I know theres so much more to it then just a prescription and go on ur way....

Dr Mayer from oda in Williamsburg. Never used him before. I described the situation in detail and he prescribed what he felt was the right fit. You go back after a month to make any necessary adjustments. Anxiety meds are not that big a deal. Think of it like someone taking meds for any chronic condition, like migraines or anything else.

I just started seeing Dr Tatyana Semanova. She is located in Brooklyn, in Sheepshead bay( near Coney Island Beach)
She had previously worked in centers and just opened her own private practice, so she has appointments available. She was good( I knew what I needed ,so wasnt like I needed an in depth evaluation)
She is new to private practice, so some stuff I did find a little funny( her office is in a new building, I was telling her it was beautiful, and she asked if I wanted to rent office space, which I found funny, cuz she doesnt know me well to offer it)
But I was impressed..she offered me extra info and advice, amd was able to recommend a therapist to speak to( cringe moment though, she called her right then to ask if she tales my insurance, and put therapist in the phone to take my number, who said she would call me back)

Pcp often do not have the the training to be fully knowledgeable in psychotropic medication. Also best to start with a therapist prior to a psychiatrist.

^^ What she said. Go directly to the specialist to get the best care and best results.
If you want to be covered by insurance, go to your insurance website to see who is covered and then google some reviews. OR call relief, pesach tikvah, amudim, or mask and get referral from them.
