The Twin Z pillow is amazing for nursing or even just lounging, it made it super easy to feed them both with bottles, you can hold both or your husband can hold one and you hold the other.

Schedule, schedule, schedule. We got the twins on the same feeding schedule even if we woke one up to feed. Id get up, pump for 20 minutes while feeding them (husband woke up too, you need help!) every 3-4 hours but it made it so we had consistent stretches.

Yes, they didn’t latch well and I didn’t make enough milk so we supplemented with formula.

Do NOT feel bad if this happens. I wanted to try and give them as much breast milk as possible but it was physically hard and emotionally draining. If I had a do over I would just do formula.

Also, it allows someone to help!

Welcome to the twin club. Mom of 2 sets of twins here. My second set is around 6 weeks old now. I do not live in the lakewood area so I cant help with that but any other questions please feel free to ask away. Feel good!!

When the ultrasound showed that I had twins (fraternal boys),I was upset. I'm ashamed to admit it now, but I cried. But I got used to the idea, and now I wouldn't change it for the world. The first few months were hard, but I love having twins. You're in for a wild, wonderful ride!

Hi OP, I had twins a year ago in lakewood. Just wanted to tell you there is a twin gemach. Very sweet and helpful woman. Her name is Chumi Helman and she lives on Central somewhere for alot of things you need. Also, not sure if this is your first or not,but if you need help with your other kids, I found highschool girls to do chesed by me.

Also, there is financial help. for La Isha, baby nurse, furniture, clothing...

I don't know which midwife group you are currently using, but if you are using the midwife group at Avon by the Sea/Brick, I know they have a lot of experience with twins. I wish I could stay with that practice (I'm too high risk for midwife). If you want to stay with them, see if you can get an appointment with their collaborating OB group (Healthy Women OBGYN in Jackson/Freehold/Tinton Falls) just to meet the OBs. You will also have scans with the MFMs at Jersey Shore who are really great as well.

This was discovered at the mfm’s at jersey shore when I went for the first trimester scan... For now sticking with the Jersey Shore mfm as the perinatologist and using RWJ OBs for regular Ob.
The other option was to switch to RWJ’s MFM group but the travel time would be really intense...

Also, that does make sense that you cannot see the midwives. Typically mono-di with cord insertion issues is beyond the scope of midwives. Clinically and legally, there are a number of reasons that they are not allowed to take that on.
