About $46K for 2 kids, one in high school, one younger, central NJ. We pay full tuition and we pay about $2k a year for transportation for high school. When the younger one goes to high school, I anticipate our total bill increasing $8-10K and I have zero idea where it's going to come from.

How is babysitting 25k a year??? Wow!

In Lakewood 1 kid nursery age $350/mo for the total of $3,500.

$480 a week, that's not a great salary.

We pay about $80,000 tuition. Two high school, 2 college.

Just shy of 28K for one in a MO HS in Bergen County.
Nobody else left home, and college is not relavent to the cost of a day school education. Furthermore, theoretically it is my choice to pay for college rather then make them take out loans.

Assuming it’s a private nanny. A regular babysitter has other kids.

$80k? Holy!

So you consider your full time labor to be worth $0?

That’s not the question she answered. The question was regarding “tuition bill”.

true, but I’m surprised how little money some people make! A family with 4+ kids, less than $100k? (Unless there aren’t 2 full time working parents I don’t get it.)

The median household income in the USA in 2019 was $68,700. Why are you surprised there are middle class Jews? 70% of mothers with children under 5 work. The median personal income in the USA was $40,100 in 2019

Private school is for the upper classes, usually.

Personally, we usually earn around $50,000/year, we have 4 children and we homeschool. I work from home part time and my husband usually has 2 jobs.

Seems like a fair trade! Not a fan of driving anyway.

I understand the situation with chassidish schools is similar to Catholic schools in poor areas. Besides for being more bare bones, tuition is heavily subsidized and there are many not paying at all. It takes a huge larger background community on board with supporting such a system to sustain it.
