Nothing wrong with rolling up sleeves .
My mom is always telling me I buy very just . Usually lasts just one season but I know many people that buy bigger it should last for more than one season .
Some things like shabbos sweater or vest for my older son does last more than one season ( I usually like to buy a fresh one too )

I find that on a baby for sure, the clothes grow with them!
They stretch with them..
So I wouldn't buy big now.
Pants on an older boy though, I would make sure its long enough.

Of course I size up! I don't want to buy new clothes in December!
I find pesach clothes are more forgiving of sizing up because they're short sleeves, but my kid is tall so the size up is fine.
