Good Morning,

Did you notice that some people here borrow expressions from other users, that we never really hear in real life?

Some examples are:
Throw the tomatoes
Rinse and repeat

I think it's pretty interesting. Any other ones you noticed?

I think it's just the nature of internet lingo and forum conversation.

When you say something unpopular in real life you preface it with "this might not be popular" online you'll say your opinion then admit it's not popular with "thow tomatoes"

Same with "rinse repeat" although I might actually say thAt in person to someone

Rinse and repeat is typically used in everyday conversation, not just on Imamother. I work in a public school and hear that phrase a lot.

Throw the tomatoes is less regularly used, but rather than borrowed, it's more that it's an applicable phrase for Imamother and other social media sites. When you say something that is going to be highly controversial, people do throw rotten tomatoes, figuratively.

There's even a movie review website called "Rotten tomatoes."

AYLOR, while not limited to imamother, is an internet expression seldom used in conversation. So is "get therapy." But "get professional help" is used in conversation, usually as a euphemism for 'you're insane.'
