Why would it be a scam? The odds of winning are a few million to 1, but millions of tickets are bought, so people win. It's simple math.

Few dollars here and there. But people do win. I just haven't met them yet.

It's a scam because it exploits a flaw in the human mind.

That doesn't make it a scam. It's well known that buying a lottery ticket is gambling. An important tip to remember when gambling: the odds are always stacked in the house's favor. So yes, people win, but obviously the state makes money off of it.
It would be a scam if people involved in running it or their friends and family were winning the jackpots, or there weren't real people winning.

Can't believe the rumor about the Staten Island family is still going around. If it's the same family I know, I know for a fact that it wasn't true.

I mean there's a news article on voz iz neias from 2007 of a frum staten island man who won 17m

So if the family's last name starts with F its accurate

A guy at work won $1K per week for the rest of his life. He tried to "act regular" but that didn't last too long Wink

Why wouldn't he?
Its still only 50k/a year before taxes..
I mean, it's a nice bonus, sure, but 50k won't support a family with rent food tuition (if he's Jewish)

No, this is someone much more recent, like maybe 2014-2015? Don't remember the name...
