Are you sure that's true? I was once looking for flights around Sukkot and noticed the ones for yom kippur were dirt cheap lol. Obviously they weren't El Al and I didn't look too closely at the details but I assume they would've been flying into BG?

Ben Gurion Airport always shuts down for Yom Kippur.
Maybe they usually have emergency employees on staff, but no scheduled takeoffs/landings.

The flights left elsewhere in the world on Yom Kippur, but didn't reach Israel until afterwards. The first flights normally land around 10:00 pm.

Now they are saying that outbound fights will continue for those who purchased a ticket before the shutdown starts at 14:00 today.
