I’m doing family history research and found a 5x great grandmother named Dicha. Have you heard of the name/know what it means?

I have a relative with a middle name Deicha or Deicha pronounced like you would say ayayaya!
Thinking of naming a child that?
Don't.

I wasn’t thinking of naming a child Dicha, I just hadn’t heard of the name before and was hoping someone here would know what it means. Thanks everyone for your responses!

In general, my observation has been that many yiddish names were nicknames for hebrew ones and don't necessarily have meaning- Basya/Batya became a Slavic Basha, Devorah- Dvasha, Dobrush much like our Huvy, Kikki, Rikki, Miri (sometimes), Itcha, Beri etc. will be analyzed in 100 years.

Exactly! I’m wondering really what Dicha must be a nickname for.
What are Kikki/Itcha/Beri nicknames for?

Educated guess: Yehudis becomes Disa which becomes Dicha.

My guess is the name was originally Nicha but someone with a cold and stuffy nose pronounced it Dicha and it stuck.

There it is. Dishel if it is pronounced that way. Disha is fine too. This sefer has Faiga as Faigel. This is the Bais Shmuel on names. Looks like it is one of many derivatives of Devorah.

Thank you everyone! I don’t know how it was spelled in Hebrew/Yiddish, I only have the info from an online record through family history research which wrote out the name in Latin characters: Dicha.
This ancestor was from Kovno, Lithuania.
