Following as we are using this name. However, we don't love it, just love the person we are naming for. Wish we could find a good nickname.

We are also looking for a good legal name for the birth certificate as we don't want something so hard to pronounce.... should I start a s/o to ask for that?

People are suggesting Mendel because it's the Yiddish version of Menachem.

The same was Hirsch is for Tzvi, Zalman is for Shlomo, etc.

A lot of the common combos are the Yiddish + Hebrew.
Menachem Mendel.
Shlomo Zalman.
Tzvi Hirsch.
Dov Ber.

Mendy is Yiddish for Menachem. You can be named Menachem (not Menachem Mendel) and called Mendy. All Mendels are Menachem. You can be named Yaakov Tzvi and called Yaakov Hersh etc. No one is named Zalmen Leib they are named Yekusiel Yehuda. Our dayan says it is wrong to include a Yiddish name for a male as the official name and should only be a nickname so Tzvi is officially Tzvi not Tzvi Hersh but is just Hersh as a nickname
