We are renovating a BP walkup apartment.
Right now the DR is the front room. The windows are very long, so they start quiet low. There is a couch under the window and then the DR table.
The thing is the people walking can see right in. When we have all the windows open, or shades up to get air and light, then the people on the street see us and we see them. I don’t like the lack of privacy.
I will replace the windows.
Should I put in windows that start higher up? That means closing up part of the hole, an extra expense plus losing some of the light which I enjoy.
Could I put tinted windows? But that won’t help when I want the windows open.
Any other suggestions
Thanks in advance

What about some sort of upside-down window blinds or shades?

We lived on a street level first floor. No stairs. During the day we didn't really have an issue with people looking in, if our lights were low and we were enjoying the sunlight coming in from outside. At night we had to make sure the shades were fully drawn.
Also, we really appreciate zebra shades that allow sunlight in while the mesh simultaneously allows some privacy.
