In my school, the coolest girl's name was Blimi!

I think coolness goes by personality not name.

Someone one this site once coined the term "Teaneck-y Names" and I think that's what OP is looking for.
Examples of Teanecky names are: Ariella, Talia, Elana, Atara, Ayelet.

Oh yes I must be confused
Adina for Lavan iirc is in gemara not Tanach?
Rachel and Lea possibly got it from G-d or from above in the family tree who knows
Sometimes also when a parent has so many faults, the children learn what not to do (rav Hirsch)

The source is not Gemara, but a book called Sefer Hayashar.

There are a number of books by this name, the first is mentioned in Yehoshua and Shmuel, others can be found here. The one that names Lavan's wife is the one listed there as a 16th century midrash, although that's when it was first printed, its author and date of composition are unknown.

I think this is all so dependant on community. And the danger with using a fashionable name is that it will sound dated at some point. Use a name you love and that has meaning for you, not cool. That sounds a bit too much like trying too hard.

Funny, my name is mentioned a few times and I was always considered super cool Wink
I always thought the name Rachelle was cool. (NOT to be pronounced rOchel or rOchelle. )

Is everyone just saying the names of cool people they know?

And how do you define what is cool? Does cool even have any real value?
