Ds , age 8, got poked in the eye today by a kid in his class. He came home early, I sent dh to the drs office, he saw the pa and she said it was fine.
As the day went on, it got worse so I took him back to the Dr and he said to have him seen by an opthalmologist asap.
I'm on my way to the er now, and dh is so upset w me. He thinks the kids just fine and that I'm wasting my time.
Am I wrong?!

You're the mom. Your gut is usually right when it comes to your family.
Do what you need. Hopefully its nothing, but you're doing the right thing

Dh may be overwhelmed/anxious/confused and this is how it’s coming out. I know my dh can get like this in unexpected stressful situations. I’m sorry, because honestly it’s the last thing you need now.you could really use his support and reassurance.

Absolutely not. Three of us in my family have scratched our corneas and it is PAINFUL. Also very easily done. If it's still bothering him hours later that's almost certainly what it is, in which case he needs antiobiotic eyedrops and cream. Make sure you do both religiously so it heals properly and won't reopen (btdt).

I had corneal abrasion and of you never had it you have NO IDEA the pain.

Best thing is to give him his eye drop/ointment whatever dr gave you and give him melatonin so he falls asleep immediately.

Tell your DH to call me if he needs me to explain it!

That’s very painful. It’s good you got him seen.
Sometimes it’s hard to know the right thing to do.

You absolutely did the right thing by following doctor's orders.

Corneal abrasions are NO FUN! It feels like you have hot sandpaper in your eye, and it will take all the strength you have not to rub it and make it worse.

I got one 40 years ago, and it became scarred because I didn't get the right treatment. To this day I cannot wear contact lenses.

For the future if any of your children get poked in the eye go straight to eye dr, even an optometrist is better than a P.A!!!
No point in wasting time going to the pediatrician!
(Talking from experience!)
