I'm fradel and my cousin also is fradel but they call my cousin frieda and I dislike that name immensely.
Yet Fradel and Fraidel is two different names but I dont think I would name my daughter fraidel

I'm Fradel (with 2 other names, called by one of them) and we wanted to name our daughter Frayda with another name (after grandparent) and were told it's 2 diff names. However, one of our parents asked us not to as it's too similar so we didn't and named her just the 2nd name.

I knew the nicest lady named Devosha in Brooklyn during my single years. The name was very fitting

I also knew someone years ago by this name.
More recently, I heard someone who wanted to give this name but were told can do Devorah instead, as it's similar enough.
I guess makes sense, one is honey, the other is bee. Smile

Not all, just some. It's the yiddish version and sometimes, there's already a Yehuda in the family etc and they're told to call the yiddish version.

Leib is Yiddish for Aryeh. The connection to yehudah is because Yaakov avinu compared his son yehudah to a lion. But where do you get zalmen from yekusiel? I thought Zalmen comes from Solomon

No idea but in our communities every Zalmen is a Yekusiel and they can have a brother, father, son Shlomo. Leibs are usually Aryeh and Yidel's are Yehudas

Aliza is Fraida (Meaning joy)
Adina is Yentel (meaning fine or genteel - which gives you Yentel)

Yekusiel Yehuda = Zalman Leib.
Yehuda because he's compared to a lion
Yekusiel, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's because Yekusiel is one of Shlomo hamelech's names, and Zalman is Solomon.

The Klausenburger Rebbe was Yekusiel Yehuda (called Zalman Leib) and there are many people named after him.

I thought Adina was Hebrew for Aidel.
Yes, many names after Klausenberg Rebbe are called Zalmen Leib.

Zalmen Leib is the only time I really hear Leib for Yehuda otherwise it's usually Yidel or Yiddy. I'm sorry yes Adina is Yenta.
