Does anyone have any good tips for keeping their (dishwashing) sponges from smelling. I seem to go threw sponges about once a week, and then they smell terrible and mildewy.

after using, rinse with hot water and let dry, wet sponges r a breeding ground for smelly bacteria.
also if it came in contact with raw meat it could spread bacteria that causes food poisoning.

uch.... I hate sponges, cuz mine get all mushy and yucky so quickly. a lot of times I just pour soap on the dishes and wash with my hands!

I used to use spnges and they were disgusting my mother in law told me about "chore boy"they are sponging clothes, they are great, they are kinda like a scouring pad/cloth,they are great to use b/c unlike spnges u dont have to squishe them to get them into small places, this cloth is great amd llasts a long time.they are super east to rinse, just rinse and squeeze out excess water(which isnt much at all unlike spnges). and they are cheap in price!highly recommended.

You can put sponges in the microwave to disinfect - just not the metal kind! And be careful taking them out - they get really hot.

I s/t like to use 0000 steel wool instead of a sponge. exept on delicate items.

I use dobi pads and they last longer than regular sponges. after using, I rinse them out and squeeze all the water out and they're fine.
