What is your price point and how expensive is your butcher?
How much work are you willing to do?
How many people?

Maybe I should rephrase as when you go to the butcher and look in the case, what cuts of meat are you considering and then maybe we can tell you what to do with it.

Italian-Style Shoulder Steak

Print
Author: Esti Waldman
Ingredients
4 shoulder steaks
3 15 oz cans of tomato sauce (I like Hunts brand)
2 Tbsp Italian seasoning (or a combination of any dried herbs)
1 bay leaf
1 tsp kosher salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300F. Pour one can of tomato sauce into a 9x13 pan. Place two shoulder steaks in the pan. Follow with another can of sauce and remaining steaks. Top with the third can and then add spices. Cover and bake for 3-4 hours or until meat is tender.

Just about any cut of meat will be good if cooked in a sauce at a low temperature (like 300) for a long time.

My favourites are chuck and minute roast.

Easy minute (or any cut of meat) recipe. Chop loads of onions. Place in roasting bag with meat. (no need to brown) Season meat to taste (salt, pepper, bay leaves...) Add some dry red wine. Let it cook in oven for about 3-4 hours on 300f or 150c.

London broil comes at many price points. It’s very easy to marinate and then broil (10 min on each side).

I make pulled beef from inexpensive cuts. I put the meat and BBQ sauce in a crock pot,, or pressure cooker. I serve with chips, guacamole and pica de gala (tomato salad.)
