Help match our family to a community! Please!

Background:

3 kids kh, oldest is 5.
Hashkafically we are middle of the road- not yeshivish, not MO. We are both professionals. Husband wears black hat on shabbos..... I dont cover legs (but could if I need to).... I fully cover my hair. We dont have a tv but do watch movies. We are both from Brooklyn but not "in-towny" in terms of materialistic- we are not into expensive brand name but we are still put together....

We are looking for a nice community, non judgmental. People who are approachable but "with it." Can be small but not tiny!! Can be in a different state but we'd prefer reasonable drive from NYC. Preferably NY or NJ. Maybe something like monsey? Dont know much about it.... A community in NJ thats not Modox? TIA!

There are many neighborhoods in Baltimore. sounds like the Beazer neighborhood might suit you. and Ranchliegh.

If you are willing to move to the Midwest, consider South Bend, Indiana! We have a growing community with a Torah Umesorah, day school 3 year olds- 8th grade, Bais Yaakov High School, Boys Yeshiva High School, Kollel, Eruv, two shuls, Mikvah, and Tuition vouchers for K-12, very affordable homes and even more affordable property taxes, and blee Ayin hara it is a nice suburban area! We have many job opportunities for professionals! If you would like to find out more free free to DM me! BH the community demographics are exactly what you are looking for and most men work full time as professionals!!

How many hours is the limit of "reasonable" drive for you?

I love how the answer to every relocation question on Ima is inevitably South Bend, which is definitely not a reasonable drive from NYC or "preferably NY or NJ."

In NJ, I think you'd be very happy in Passaic or Edison/Highland Park, and in NY, look into Inwood, North Woodmere, maybe West Hempstead. Waterbury is another good option. I don't think today's Monsey is for you.

If you're interested in monsey you should look into Pomona, might be a good fit.

Just curious why you say that as I'd overall describe myself the same way as OP and we're considering Monsey.

Someone suggested north Woodmere? OP said they're not in towny and materialistic. NW is not the place for her.

It sounds like Clifton/Passaic might be interesting for you to explore, as well as possibly Cedarhurst. There are some nice neighborhoods in Queens but I am not familiar enough to know the differences between them.

I think New City neighborhood or Chestnut Ridge in Monsey. Wesley Hills is also really nice but more expensive and in general older families. I actually thing Monsey would be great for you.

Monsey is a great place with a mix of all different backgrounds.
But the outer monsey neighborhoods like chestnut, Wesley hills, Pomona, and new city are more your type
