If we end up naming our baby Yaakov, I plan on putting the name Koby on the birth certificate. Would you spell it with a "c", I guess from Jacob or a "k" from yaakov?

Definitely K. Coby sounds weird to me. Is it the name of a electronics brand?

So cute, I also am leaning towards Yaakov/Kobi.
However I plan to put Jacob on the birth certificate. Just keep in mind that this will be his legal name throughout adulthood.. what he will be called at work etc.
I definitely want to spell it with a K but I can’t decide between Kobi/Koby/Kobe.
I know a lot of people spell it with a C but for some reason it looks weird to me.

K to correspond to the K in Yaakov.
Unless you spell it with a c - Yaacov. I've seen both.
Personally...I like Koby better.
I know a female actress called Cobie so I think Coby is a girl's name

Thanks for all the responses! Forgot to mention that this was time sensitive. I ended up asking the non-Jewish nurses at the hospital and they voted that "c" is more what they would expect in the secular world. We ended up going with that, hope I don't regret it!

Honestly, I'd prefer Jacob or even Jake.

She could name the next son "Michael Jordan": a good Jewish name! 😁

My son is Yaakov even on his birth certificate. We call him Coby, and spell it like that. Coby comes from JaCOB. If we did K for yaakov, then it would be KoVy.
Just my opinion. He is a young adult now, and I haven't regreted it once. Mazel tov!
