Looking for diverse yeshivish. Kollel, general yeshivish, happy and close to yiddishkeit, friendly, thinking, not narrow minded, not super gashmiyus.
Anyone know about these neighborhoods near Monsey to say how they fit with what we're looking for?

I live in chestnut ridge, it sounds like what your describing, pretty yeshivish (meaning most of the men learned in yeshiva for many years) but totally everyone does their own thing, some are working, klei kodesh, kollel….and we all daven in the same shul, everyone is friends

Sounds like Dexter Park is a better fit than Haverstraw.

There is more “yeshivish diversity in DP than in Haverstraw.

That's what I thought, but looking to see if there are more options in case I can't find a house in Dexter Park. Haverstraw has more that are reasonably priced, but I really don't want 'shtick' or narrowness.

Houses in Haverstraw are cheaper but taxes are higher.

What’s shtick or narrowness? I’ve only heard nice things about haverstraw. Also, really hard to get a house there now they are all grabbed so fast

It depends on the house.
Taxes might end up being only 1-2k more ... difference is the lot and properties are smaller. So it’s technically less bang for your buck.

We looked into both neighborhoods, and liked the mix of families in Dexter park way better than Haverstraw. We loved the mix of the down-to-earth, out of town feel with the sincere frumkeit and yeshivishness that Dexter park offers. Haverstraw families were a little more into gashmiyos for our liking. But if you’re looking for a big house, you may find that Haverstraw offers that. Hatzlacha!

Haverstraw has a few parts to it. There is the not yeshivish part and the more yeshivish part. They are both nice but the yeshivish part sounds exactly like what you’re looking for. But good luck finding a house. I know many people just waiting and waiting until a good house hits the market
