Got the virus over a month ago, Bh pretty mild case. But my sense of smell is still totally dead, which is pretty annoying- I miss the delicious smell of fresh challah in the oven and a freshly brewed cup of coffee- not to mention not knowing if my baby is sitting in a dirty diaper Can't Believe It Anyone tried anything that actually worked?

Yes I've been doing smell therapy/olfactory training and BH it's working. It takes 2 minutes every day and meant to be done for 4 months.

I’ve also been doing olfactory retraining and it’s been helping. Buy 4 essential oils: clove, eucalyptus, lemon, and rose. Smell them each twice daily. Simple as that.

*Olfactory Training by Dr. Zara Patel, assistant professor of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery at Stanford University.*
-4 (30ml/1 oz) amber glass jars
-watercolor paper
-rose, clove, eucalyptus & lemon essential oils

(The above is all available on Amazon.)

Cut the heavy watercolor paper to fit the bottom of each jar. Insert the cut paper to line the bottom of the jars. Place 5 drops of one essential oil into the first jar. Label jar & lid and cover so you know what's in the jar; seal tightly. Repeat with remaining 3 essential oils and jars.

2 times a day, take small mindful sniffs of each scent (around 3 sniffs of each), being curious about the smell, and conjuring up in your mind what that scent smells like. Continue to the next.

Meant to be done for around 4 months.

If you need more source articles, let me know.

Do NOT sniff fresh horseradish. I did this as a child erev pesach and felt like I inhaled FIRE!

To this day, I have a reduced sense of smell which I believe comes from sniffing fresh horseradish.

But EATING SMALL amounts of horseradish can clear the sinuses and enhance sense of smell.

I felt the same way!
Let’s put it this way: when I started I was at about 5% capacity. Now (after six weeks) I’m probably up to 50%.

Don't sniff the whole bottle of essential oil the way it comes. It's very potent and shouldn't be played around with.

A month is not long at all. I had covid the week after Purim and it's still not back all the way.

What is the reasoning behind this? Zinc messed up your sense of smell and taste to begin with...
