I'm looking for someone who takes insurance or is reasonably priced. Must specialize in the anxiety/OCD field. Thanks!

I know this isn’t what you’re asking but please look into pans/pandas/Lyme. Ocd in such a young child is almost always this.

I have a 11 year with the same symptoms and looking into therapist also, I am willing to go to someone that doesn't take insurance is she knows what she's doing and is experienced. Anyone have any experience with anyone?
Also, how do I look into PANDAS?

My 12 year old had the same symptoms and we we went to Dovid Becker. Very happy with him. Though it is a lifeling battle we did see results.
Good luck and you are not alone![quote]

if this is new, definitely. Even if not. But be prepared for them to blow you off, and for you to have to stand your ground. Start educating yourself now. You will need to be your child’s advocate.

you really need a specialist who knows how to make the diagnosis. Unfortunately most lkwd drs aren’t up to date on these disorders. Some may be willing to work with you though.

I’m with you here....I need a good therapist for my 10 year old daughter for anxiety and ocd and I highly doubt it’s pandas. Would relief be helpful? I had done free therapy back when she was four through some Lakewood free program... I forgot the name. I don’t think it was great because I had a young student who wasn’t so experienced..

Dr. Koslowitz is amazing, very experienced with anxiety and OCD. She doesn't take insurance and she's not cheap.

I second to check for pandas!! My daughter started exhibiting symptoms of anxiety and ocd. She asked to check her temperature a few times a day. Her usually outgoing personality went down the drain. She sat on the couch quietly and got quickly aggravated and aggressively attacked her siblings if she got ticked the wrong way. Took bloodwork by doc and was put on medication for 3 months. She went back to normal Bh after taking med

My otherwise happy 8 year old son can suddenly become anxious and panicky. We can’t do anything to calm him down when he gets like that aside for occasional distractions that sometimes work.
He does not have ocd.
I’ve been thinking that he needs a therapist but I just cannot start with a young inexperienced social worker... there are so many in Lakewood. I don’t want to take him to someone who will play a game with him and make it fun for 30 minutes a week. I want someone super experienced who can delve into the issue and help us figure out how to deal with it.
The person who suggested brocha daum, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t see clients herself. I think at this point she has (young) people working under her.
Following this thread for recommendations.

Nechama Kruk worked with my DD at that age on anxiety, not so much OCD....and she's doing great B"H.

The pediatrician in Lakewood with the most experience with pandas is dr eilenberg.
For therapy, we had a lot of hatzlocha with Moshe Norman from quality families.
For therapy, if your child's behaviors really disrupt life you may be eligible through performcare. Relief can tell you more about it. But you may not be able to handpick your therapist.
Hatzlocha on your journey to all! May you see lots of nachas!
