This is a vexed issue for me.
The heels of my shoes and boots get worn out so fast. Until which point is it socially acceptable to wear them?
Or do I just have to buy new pairs every month or two? Shoe taps extend their life just a bit.

How do your shoes wear out in one month's wear? (Heel? Toe? Cloth? Leather?)
Please give us specifics.

I think if your shoes look like they are falling apart. It's time to toss.
On the other hand. Shoes that get worn out after a month or two probably aren't great quality. Maybe look for better made shoes.
Or buy two pairs of the same show and switch off.

The heels get worn out unevenly- the outside sides, I guess because of my gait?
The shoes are often in great condition, but the sides of the heels worn out. And it happens with high-quality shoes too

Maybe you could use a pair of inserts from a podiatrist to fix your gait. And then the shoes won't wear out so quickly

Why cant you just get the heels fixed when they wear down in the side and yes its your gait.but if they are still good looking and comfy why toss?

This!
My husband needed new shoes every 2-3 months until he finally got inserts and now he keeps his shoes for a year! (Top looked in perfect condition but bottom was worn out and it wasn't comfortable anymore!)

If they are good shoes and the uppers are in good shape, take them to a good shoemaker and have the heels repaired or the shoes soled.
A good shoemaker can also advise you on what you might do to help the shoes last longer.
I have had heels and soles redone. It is not inexpensive but it is worth it if the shoes are good quality to begin with.
