So I've been losing weight on low carb diet but now want to add in intermittent fasting (8/16) but I'm wondering how to have my morning coffee if I can't eat til later. Under low carb I've been using splenda and heavy cream. I know a drop of milk in coffee can work without breaking a fast, but since cream is higher calorie, does that pose a problem? Any solutions to work for both?

I'm doing IF and have only black coffee. I was told even a drop of milk breaks the fast.
Hopefully with low carb IF will work for you.
Hasn't done a thing for me.

Heavy cream will not work with if.

I say don’t be so strict about IF for just the coffee. Maybe u try 1 tablespoon of cream and every day make it less and less.

I drink coffee with heavy cream and still consider it fasting. It really depends on what your goals are. For weightloss it can work. For autophagy, I believe not.

Blend butter into your coffee
0 carbs so it doesn’t break your fast

I’m curious what you eat in a day.

Butter has calories, so yes it breaks the fast.

Only things that spike insulin breaks a fast
Fat doesn’t spike insulin

Again, depends what your goals are. Not a huge issue for weight loss.

Coffee with a splash of cream is fine for IF. Maybe now is a good time to stop using Splenda.

It’s nicknamed “dirty” IF lol

I’m not dogmatic about fasting. Jason Fung is good with crutches if it helps you get there. If you’re fasting for autophagy it’s different.

What about a bit of unsweetened almond milk (if you like a nutty flavor coffee ☕)

Everyone's different, but I've had success following the work of Gin Stephens, her book Fast Feast Repeat, & her podcasts, she's a wealth of information.

people have to do what works for them. no one should be telling other people what to do or not do. they have to do what works for them. I decide what my fasts look like, not jason fung. Or gin stevens.
