Potentially yes, but most often not. Especially as many women had the virus as a child.
But once the child has red cheeks he's not actually contagious anymore.
Fifth disease often circulates in the late winter and early spring, so it's a bit of an off season now.
(I actually caught it at the end of December last year... no fun for adults).
