Interested in what type of crowd lives there, young, old, yeshivish? Modern orthodox? Shuls? From where are people moving?

What are the houses like, how hard is it to find a house, how much, all information appreciated. Ty

Inwood is a really nice community. It started around 10 years ago and oldest families here have high school age kids. People moving here are basically young families from the greater five towns area who are ready to buy houses but there are also young families from Brooklyn or queens that buy here.

I would say we have the full spectrum of the yeshivish/black hat world. There are a few kollel guys here and some people that don’t own a black hat but I can only think of one family that sends to an MO school.

The joke is that we are the fifth town, we are definitley the simplest town. The housing is a pretty sad situation. The cheapest thing you will find will be around 600k and will be small, need work or both. People are drawn here for the extremely welcoming friendly community not the houses.

Ty!

Are there larger houses, or houses that you can pay more but get more in return? And in better shape?

There are people here with beautiful large homes but they mainly made large additions or knocked down and built from scratch.

One area here does have larger homes but they were built in the early 1900’s and will need work and possibly a conversion from a two family to a one family.

It's very hard to find a house. They are small, old and rundown. Most need a lot of work.

For a long time, Inwood was a bit of the stepchild of the Five Towns. It was the poorest and least Jewish area. The houses are smaller, they're closer to commercial/industrial property, and you're not going to find something that was updated for a frum family unless they recently did the work. Big, not unless they put on an extension.

The cost and popularity of the rest of the Five Towns and FR has finally made people cross into Inwood. But it was because of proximity, not because it was a desirable area.
